Categories and Tags

You’ve probably noticed that blog posts on “Silly Old Bear” can have both “Categories” and “Tags” associated with them.

Categories are usually limited to one, two, or a few per post. Think of a category as a broad description of the overall theme of that particular post. A list of all active Categories can always be found on the Home page, on any Archive pages or Category pages (a page that lists all posts in a particular Category), and on this page. The active list is in the right-hand column, under the heading “Silly Old Categories”.

Tags, on the other hand, are much more specific. There can be LOTS of Tags associated with any particular post. Think of Tags as a list of the people, places, and things mentioned in that particular post. If you click on any Tag link at the top or bottom of a post, you will be taken to a page that lists all the posts associated with that particular Tag. At the bottom of that page, there will be a “Silly Old Tag Cloud” box, showing all Tags currently in use on the “Silly Old Bear” website. You can also click on the “TAGS” navigation link at the top of any page to be taken to the “Silly Old Tag Cloud”.
