WOW!
I just finished watching and listening to Republican Vice-Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota. (I wasn’t in Minnesota, she was; I was sitting in my living room in Texas watching her speech on TV.)
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. In my opinion, she hit a Grand Slam late in the ninth inning to win the game. She was calm, cool, and collected; she was charming and witty; she was tough as nails. She didn’t play it safe and make a pretty little political speech that wouldn’t ruffle any feathers. There was definitely plenty of feather ruffle-age going on!
But the most endearing characteristic of the speech, and seemingly of Governor Palin herself, was her genuineness. Everything she said seemed to come straight from the heart. She’s not your run-of-the-mill politician, that’s for sure! She is a real person from the inside out, from small town America, who has spent her life making a difference in other people’s lives, and now wants to make a difference for good in this great nation that I am proud to call home.
I liked the way she stood up to the ridiculous nonsense being spewed by her opponents concerning her supposed lack of substantial executive experience. I loved her effective use of sarcasm in turning those charges completely around and shining the light right back in the other direction. She is a real person, with real experience, with a real down-to-earth family (warts and all), and she is a person who obviously cares deeply for the people she serves, and loves deeply her home state of Alaska. She speaks with pride about this great country (and tonight obviously wasn’t the first time in her adult life that she has been proud to be an American!) She believes in America!
It is evident that Sarah Palin holds deep convictions in the area of traditional, conservative, working-class moral values. She isn’t afraid to call right, “right” … and wrong, “wrong”. She knows what it is like to face the real struggles of life and emerge victorious. Oh yeah, and she has some pretty substantive ideas on key issues that affect real-life Americans (like you and me) every day.
Sarah Palin was a shining star tonight. Her infectious optimism inspires real hope. She is more qualified than either of her opponents, based on her actual political experience, to serve in the White House. In fact, she is probably even more qualified than John McCain to be President! Which is why I think she will make a great Vice President and give strategic depth to the highest office in the free world.
And so I am going to step out on a limb and make a bold prediction: Sarah Palin will be the first woman President of the United States of America! (Not this time around, obviously … keep reading.) I predict that after a successful stint as Vice-President alongside John McCain, she will run for President (either four or eight years from now) and will win handily. Time will tell. Let’s watch and see.
God bless Sarah Palin.
God bless America!
God bless YOU.
