The peanut butter and jelly sandwich (PB&J) is a staple food item in many households, especially households with children. But PB&J isn’t just for kids! Many adults enjoy a good PB&J occasionally as well.

So, here’s my question. What kind of jelly makes the best PB&J?

Every once in a while, I will spend a little time perusing the greeting cards at our local grocery store, looking for particularly funny ones. Some time back, I found a real gem of a card and bought it, intending to send it to one of my brothers on his birthday. Well, the card never made it into the mail, and I came back across it last night while cleaning through a pile of papers on my desk.

Rather than wait for the next family birthday, I decided I would just scan it and share it here. So, to anyone who is having a birthday … HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Here is your card …

When I was in high school, I purchased a ukulele and learned how to play a handful of songs. It was a lot of fun, and I kind of wish I still had that old uke.

A couple of years ago, I ran across a video on YouTube of a guy playing George Harrison’s song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” on the ukulele. The musician’s name is Jake Shimabukuro , and his ukulele skills are unbelievable.

[PART 6 OF 6]

What are the implications of this concept of “the sanctity of human life”?

What about abortion?

First, let’s look at some statistics (Source: abort73.com ).

In 2002:

1,082 American children died from violent assault.
2,347 died from car accidents.
32,867 died from disease.
1,310,000 died from legal abortions.

In America, abortion kills nearly 4,000 innocent human beings every single day.

That’s 25,000 each week.
109,000 every month.
1.3 million every year.

Day after day, week after week, year after year … the carnage continues. Innocent unborn children are quietly destroyed behind sterile clinic doors. Since 1973, 40 million American babies have been aborted.

[PART 5 OF 6]

What are the implications of this concept of “the sanctity of human life”?

Does that mean that war is wrong?

Is it wrong for a Christian to serve as a soldier in the military forces of his or her country, even though such service might require the taking of another human being’s life in battle?

[Please be sure to read the disclaimer at the end of this article!]

WOW!

I just finished watching and listening to Republican Vice-Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Minnesota. (I wasn’t in Minnesota, she was; I was sitting in my living room in Texas watching her speech on TV.)

[PART 4 OF 6]

What are the implications of this concept of “the sanctity of human life”?

Does that mean that it is wrong for a Christian to serve as a police officer?

If a police officer were to use deadly force and take the life of another person in the line of duty, would he or she be guilty of murder? Would he or she have violated the sanctity of human life?

Childhood Cancer Awareness Gold Ribbon

Childhood Cancer Awareness Gold Ribbon

September is
Childhood Cancer Awareness Month .

My daughter Ashley died of cancer in November 2001. She was 14 years old. Diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was almost 10, she went through a year-and-a-half of treatments, was cancer-free for three years, and then relapsed in the Fall of 2001. She survived only two-and-a-half months after her relapse.

In the United States in 2007, more than 10,000 children under the age of 15 were diagnosed with cancer. Over 1,500 of them will die from the disease. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in children, exceeded only by accidents. (Source: American Cancer Society )
