“Somebody smells like a Lunchable.”
– Caylie Curry (17 Aug 2008)
Back when I was a youth minister, I had a section on our church’s youth website entitled “Quote of the Moment”. Whenever I heard one of the teens say something totally random or particularly goofy or interesting, I would post it in the “Quote of the Moment” section.
Last Sunday night, I went with the youth group (by invitation of Lucas Corns, the new youth minister) to an area-wide youth gathering at the Italy Church of Christ in the small town of Italy, Texas (about 15 miles south of Waxahachie). I was sitting next to Caylie Curry, one of the teens. Just before the worship service began, she looked at me and said, “Somebody smells like a Lunchable”.
My first thought was, “Mmmmm, I like Lunchables!” And then it hit me, “Wait a minute! That’s a perfect Quote of the Moment!” But since I’m not youth minister any more and the youth website is in the process of being revamped, I figured I needed to find some place to preserve so profound a statement of such deep philosophical significance. So I decided to do it here.
Congratulations, Caylie! You will always have the distinction of being the very first “Quoter of the Moment” on the Silly Old Bear blog. I know your parents will be proud.
More to come!
